Oasis Community Centre

The oasis family fellowship has identified a dire need in the community for entrepreneurial skills training and a workplace buro in order to assist in relieving unemployment in the area.

There is however a shortage of available and effective space for such activities within the current layout of the church premises.therefore a proposal is made for additions as per the sketch proposal for an office space for the work placement buro as well as classroom space for entrepreneurial training as well as adult literacy training.

Proposal motivation:

The placement of these spaces is motivated by the current site development plan for the church which does not allow extensions towards the Eastern section of the site as this is zoned for parking.Also,the Southern section of the site is earmarked for parking and a section of the space for future church hall extensions.it is thus apparent that these uses are to be housed at first floor level.Walls as support for the proposed additions which would avoid the need for any costly foundations/columns/beams/etc.

The proposed placement is such that the staircase would be situated near the main entrance so as to avoid conflicting programmes of use as well as any confusion ito the layout of the premises.The proposal makes use of current 220mm structural brick

It also keeps to a simple shape and roof layout to keep costs minimal while maximizing potential space usage in keeping the use of passageways within the proposed additions to a mere 2msq

It is felt that the proposal would greatly benefit the community of Blue Downs with care taken to reap maximum benefit from miniml investment in space and utilizing the resources of the willing Oasis Family Fellowship church.
